Road King throttle problem
Hi everyone,
First post here, and I’m looking for some advice. I have a 2000 RK and I wasn’t getting any power when I hit the throttle. First line of troubleshooting was to check the condition inside the tank, and it was pretty gritty. I took it to my go-to tech and he cleaned it out, and took the fuel injection ports out and cleaned them as well. Everything worked better after that, except when wide open. I can roll on the throttle to maybe 95% and I’ll accelerate, but if I gun it that last 5%, it sputters and won’t accelerate. I might need new fuel injection ports, but I wanted to see if anyone might have other suggestions to try before I drop $350 for two new injectors. I ran some Seafoam through the system, but it didn’t help. So, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks y’all.

Now, I've been riding a while, can't say I've ever rolled my throttle 100% as you get more power by shifting before you get to that point.
Did you explain your concern to your Go-To guy? What RPM is this happening at? Not Sure if that year has a Rev Limiter %300 - 5500 Rpms maybe.
First Welcome to the forum.

"Gritty fuel tank", did the tech replace the fuel filter? How many miles? There is also another filter on the bottom of the fuel pump usually called a "sock". A miss only at high fuel flow conditions is almost always a fuel flow problem. If it were me, I would replace the fuel filter and sock before spending the big bucks on fuel injectors. Another member with a similar problem eventually found a pin hole worn through one of the high pressure fuel lines inside inside the gas tank. Do the easy cheap fixes first, then move on to the more difficult and more expensive fixes later if the true cause isn't discovered along the way.

Thanks for the reply. The tech cleaned the sock but you’re right about it still needing to be replaced, along with the fuel filter. I’ll start there and work up as needed. I appreciate the advice.
