I specifically bought my 05 RKC custom because it had a carb.
So much less to go wrong, none of all the electronic crap and sensors like with FI.
Bike has an ignition module, and that's about it. I carry a spare ignition module just in case too.
I Dont leave home without a CARB!
In 50 years of motoring counting everything, I have not ever had one let me dwn.. completely.
There was a stuck float once..
Back in the day (nothing to do with HD) some carbs came with foam floats and they would slowly sink and cause problems.
Like said the CV is a GREAT carb.

I have a chuckle whenever I read words like those. My new 1974 Harley had more electronics on it than my new 1977 BMW did (it had none) and your 2005 bike has an electronic voltage regulator, an electronic indicator module, along with it's electronic ignition system, plus a VOE(lectronic)S. So it doesn't have EFI? Big deal! In over half a million miles of bike riding I've only ever once been let down by ignition problems on any bike, magneto, points, electronic, etc. Rats! What have I just said?!

The forums are FULL of electronic problems.
Every day, everyone, every where.
Maybe points could give a temporary problem if ignored, but the fix was so EZ
Points,condenser, coil.
It does not get much more simple .
