Background: Purchased the bike in September 2017 had 400 miles on the bike when purchased. Current mileage 16,500.
Every time I wash the bike I remove the cover on the right side fairing. I have installed an after market pouch on that side that is not water resistant. I always look at the coolant level and it has always been on the Cold Line. Bike is washed on a jack to raise it up and make it level for washing.
Today was the first time in possibly one month that I have given the bike a good scrubbing. The bike was placed on the jack and raised. This time I took the cover off and the coolant level was approximately 1 inch under the Cold Line. I have not noticed any puddles of coolant. Also the bike was not ran prior to washing.
When I returned home this evening I went for a short ride and upon returning I checked all hose connections that I could find and found no issues.
Thoughts on why all of sudden the coolant level has dropped???? Local Harley dealer said this is not common and may be some type of issue.
This should probably be in the Rushmore forum. I have a 2016 FLHTK with 19k+ on it. I have only added coolant once at about 16.5k. Not much, but about 3/4 of an inch in the reservoir. I haven't added any since. I ride all year, have no leaks, and have had the bike serviced at about every 5k miles. I'd keep an eye on it, but I doubt it's anything to worry about.
