I have a 2002 RKC that has basically stock motor wise except for the upgraded air breather, PC lll and Samson Cholo exhaust. Noticed the new pipes I just put on were bluing where the mufflers meet the head pipe.. running hot due to being lean. Tried to adjust the PC lll but it appears to be done. The bike has 110,000 miles and runs good. I know She needs a new fuel management system. I will never sell this bike and will eventually replace/rebuild the motor. My mechanic says get the Thundermax but it’s pricey and has mixed reviews. Looking for some experienced input.. money is an object but if it’s the right thing to do I can bite the bullet!
Suggestions?
Mike 2002 RKC 110,000 miles and climbing. Cholo exhaust, lowered 2” rear and 1.5” front, 14” Carlini Gangsters, Baker 5 spd and Ride Wright Wheels...
I can't comment on how good the Thundermax is, however if your mechanic makes a suggestion and that brand is what he is familiar with, that is a good reason for taking his advice. If you buy an alternative brand you may not find a local shop who can tune it - not every mechanic has experience with every tuner!
Good question. Me and my mechanic looked at it. We tried unplugging it and plugging it back in several times. It would not respond to any input. Only one light bar at the bottom of the lean gauge was lit and it never changed.

If the bike starts and runs and the led on the unit is lit this tells us the PC III is working correctly. If the unit was failing the bike would not start. If you are trying to use the buttons on the device there is a very specific sequence to put it in button adjustment mode, we however recommend using the software. Dynojet still has all of the original documents, software, and guides available on their website here.
Fuel Moto has some pcIII’s on sale right now on their garage sale. Some are used but they are like $50.
Thanks for the tip on this. I called Fuel Moto this morning and bought one from their sale. Even though I bought a used one, they are pre-loading a map for my bike on it. Great customer service, and easy transaction.
Yep, I ordered one this morning myself. Same story, pre-loaded map for my setup. Totally painless transaction, I was only on the phone for 5 minutes. I will definitely be a repeat customer.
