95" build for 04 FLHTCI
A little background, I purchased the bike with 12k miles on it last fall, and I'm up to about 22k miles on it, when it developed a compression and leakdown issue on the rear cylinder which was due to the intake valve having seating issues, and upon further inspection part of the intake valve guide had actually broken off at some point and made its way through the front cylinder. The motor is a 95" SE setup with HTCC heads on it, so all the information I have found leads me to believe it was right around 10.5 to 1 compression. It had SE-211 cams in it as well.
The changes I plan to make to it are as follows, Andrews 37g gear drive cams, Feuling cam plate, Feuling hp+ oil pump, reusing the adjustable pushrods it had in it, light bore and hone and reassemble with fresh pistons, rings, and good heads.
My question is in regards to these HTCC heads, I see there is a very limited selection as far as pistons go, I have also found that some people are using a standard off the shelf piston with it with reworking the heads and making them work. I was originally shooting be fall around 10:1 compression being that it is a big bike, and I didn't want to really have to worry about fuel or temperature issues. I guess I'm looking for a little insight as to whether it is worth the effort to make these heads work, just get them fixed and run them as is, or to get something different all together.
