I live within a 90 min ride to the Hollister / Corbin factory - being this close we can make a "ride in app" and they will custom build a Seat to YOUR butt while you wait - ride out with a perfect seat and one that will drop you down... Not everone likes Corbin - but those that do LOVE them... I have had one on each of my bikes - I would NEVER ride on anyting else and being short - get a good pair of riding boots - the heels on my Redwings raise me almost 2 "

I'm 5'9' and wouldn't give up my Road King Classic for anything. I have absolutley no problems hadling it. I also love the way it rides. Going from a Dyna Superglide to the RK is the best move I could have made. Riding two up is alot better. I have to check the mirrors on occasion just to see if the OL is still on the back. I highly recomend the Road King.
I'm 1 1/2" shorter than you and ride a ultra with the seat lowered 1". I had a '03 RK that I traded in, it was lowered 1". I've had no problems at lights or backing up with either Bike. Get a good pair of riding boots and buy that touring bike, they ride and drive great. Mine just eats up the miles. You mightthrow a Road Glide into the mix and try one, less weight on the bars than the batwing fairing and still get all the gauges and radio. Good luck.
I'm 5'7" and just started riding again after 15 years of being caged. I bought a 2000 RK and have no problems backing it out of the garage, stopping, sitting at traffic lights,etc. And of course we're all the same height once we get rolling and I can see thru my windshield and not over it.
get the RKC. I'm 5'6" and bought a 07 RKC last year and I love it. The standard or classic has a windshield that come off in seconds for the open bike feel. It has air adjustable shocks; cruise; get the heated grips option. Great for two up. In the cold spring or fall you can put on some soft lowers on seconds and extend your riding season. The bike handles well and the size and weight is very user friendly.
5'5" here and love the 2004 RK I bought a few weeks ago. I've put on a lowered seat which helps, have a set of 12" air shocks on order and will be lowering the front suspension 1" over the winter layup. Changing out the stock RK bars for the stock Heritage bars also make a big difference, much more comfortable.
No real problems right now reaching the ground, the bike handles like a dream at speed and is a very comfortable commuter for me (144 miles RT to work). Face it, no matter what bike you ride, the seat usually goes first, followed shortly by shocks, pipes, etc.
I'm 5'8" 160lbs. Bought my FLHPI RK new in Feb. 05. Took off the Police air ride before I picked it up. Had them put on a Comfort Stitch for the wife. nice seat and no problems flat footing it. After about a year and a half I put the police seat back on because I had never ridden with it. Never should have taken it off. Got a mustang pass. pillion to match it. Wife is ok with it and she sits lower than with the touring seat. Anyway, you should not have to lower your bike with just about any seat you find. Just find one that is comfortable to you. Some are wider and make you spread out when at a stop and that may put you on your toes. I know 5'6" ladies who ride RK's and have no problem handling them. good luck, ride safe.
