Saturday morning, got up , got the wife and started out on a ride. 1st thing, bike felt sluggish, but I thought, maybe with extra person, I was just being critical. Seemed to be fine all day. This morning, I get up to come to work, and the bike wouldnt hardly climb the hill by the house. Rpm's up, but felt like I had a chain tied to the back end. Drove it another mile or so, and problem seemed to go away. Am I missing something?? I came on to work, so I didnt have a chance to look around on it. I wash it frequently...could something have moisture?? Maybe a fouled plug?? I dont even really know where to start...
Too much oil in the bottom of the engine and not being returned to the tank. Possible causes are bad "O" ring on the oil pump or a misaligned oil pump barring any damage to the pump itself.
Thats interesting. Im not sure I know how that relates to power loss?? But I just had it in the shop about week ago, and the oil pressure relief valve was clooged, so maybe something didnt go back together correctly?? Why would it run better when it warms up?? Sorry for the questions, I am just not real famaliar with the Harley engine.

The power loss comes from the parasitic loss (drag) as the flywheels drag through the oil that is in the bottom of the crankcase where there should be very little when the oil pump scavenges correctly. The HD engine is a dry sump system.
Possible the "O" ring was incorrectly installed when it went back together. As far as why when it's warmed up?? Only thing I can offer here is the expansion of the engine parts may cause a better seal, hard to say for sure here. In any event, if it was just apart, take it back and let them get into it again to figure it out. If it IS the "O" ring, it will be obvious when they open it up. Shouldn't be much oil in the bottom end and if they check it out and find over a couple ounces, that would confirm it.
Went out just a minute ago, and rode it around the block. I noticed that I cant get it to rev any higher than 4000, and it was slow getting past 3000 rpm's....another sign perhaps???
Oh trust me it will be.......its just that they are closed today, and I am trying to kinda get an idea what might be wrong, which is hard to do behind a keyboard.........
