I have a friend that just bought a new 2007 RK. He had the dealer install the 103inch before he took delivery. My question is, Is the 96 he took of the 07 the same as the 96inch kit I would buy out of the book for my 05 RK? He said he would sell the kit to me for a great price but I dont know if it is all the same parts?
The added cubic inches that the 96 inch motor gains over the 88 inch motor is in the length of the stroke. If the motor has been up graded to 103 inches then the bore size was increased. The bore size of both engines (88 inch or 96 inch) in stock configuration is the same. You will gain nothing from his stock cylinders unless you have them bored. It would be cheaper to have your own cylinders bored to 95cu. Inches
I just checked 2007 catalog to verify: H-D makes an upgrade to take your 200688ci/1450cc to 95ci/1550cc. The new 2007 motors are 96ci/1584cc, not the same as the previous 95ci/1550cc upgrades. Apples and oranges. Now, this doesn't answer your question and I'd suggest you discuss with a good local H-D motorhead/wrench, not necessarily you local H-D dealer where your mileage may vary...
Yep the 07 96"ersare a stroked version of the 88". The wrist pins are in a differnt location in the piston as well (so I was told from a dealer), so the kit will not fit your 88" and even if it did, it would not improve your displacement.
