Back in the Saddle
I decided on the Black Road King.
Now I need to decide to have ABS on it or not.
I've had three bikes in the past, all non-ABS bikes. I've probably driven a total of 5,000 miles, so relatively new to riding.
Is the $800 cost for ABS worth it?
I assume in the future all bikes will eventually have ABS and by having ABS resale might peak more interest.
Thanks in advance!
$800 for ABS could well be the best $800 you put into your bike. When I bought mine, I figured if it's available (it wasn't back in the day), why would I not get it. I have no doubt that it saved my a$$ on two different occasions. My wife was on the back for one of them. Yup... it was the best $800 that I ever spent.
Well back in 2016 I purchased a new Fat Boy. I decided to sell it in 2017 because I wanted a bike that was more realistic for touring a bit. So I took a year off so I could cash flow the next purchase. I decided on a 2019 Road King. One dealer has a vivid black one with ABS that wants to sell at sticker price. Another dealer has the wicked red/twisted cherry with ABS, they said they would give me $1,000 off a new bike. So I like both colors, but leaning a bit more towards the vivid black one. I sent that dealer a message to see if he will match. Dealer with the two tone bike said he could get a black one in but might take him a little bit. Northeast weather won't have me riding for a bit anyways. Has anyone seen the bikes in these paint schemes yet and what did you think? Have a great rest of the weekend!
Sorry I didn't realize how old this thread was. Hope you got a great deal.

I have had two black bikes in the past. Go for the 2 tone.

Good Luck and enjoy your new bike.
1) We were on a highway at hwy speeds when a car blew the stop sign on a side road dead in front of us. Although I thought I was done, my ABS quickly brought me to a controlled upright stop about 10 (?) feet away from the dick who came to a stop in right front of me. The rider behind me shot past and off the road to the right (behind the dick) to avoid the collision.
2) Going through some twisties, a lead car of five jammed on his brakes (to a dead stop) to make a last second left turn with oncoming traffic. My ABS brought me to a safe controlled stop again, 4 feet behind the last pickup. The rider behind me shot off in to the ditch to avoid collision with the pickup.
Yup, I like my ABS.
