Does that antenna work with the weather part of the radio. My new 06 EG radio has a weather band.

WHY do you restall your wrips

ORIGINAL: R Horn

The ones Fredom haslisted for 10.99 look like the ones that Autozone sells. I have them on my CB and my radio. If I take a trip and wan't the CD I will reinstall my Wips.

Think he meant "CB", but running an FM antenna without a base load on a CB is sure as Hell gonna burn up that CB!

The ones from Freedom Cycle replace the whips and I run them both....used and SWR on the whip and the shorty and both are the same (though the best SWR I can get on either is 2.8:1....enough for bike to bike ana couple of miles, so there it is................)

(I'm told not to expct a mega CB because the radio/CD and the CB share the same amp...that means degradation and you'll never get the performance of a super nice CB like a Cobra 29LTD all peaked and tweaked...there ain't no peakin' or twekin' to be had on the HD CB...it works, works good enugh and that's all there is)

Yep
Correct I meant CB, and swr was/is my concearn. However according to the scematic for my 05 The loading coil is actualy located before the antenna mast and mount. I will have to look for it sometime, the part number for the Loading Coil Assy 76318-98. That being said the SWR maybe acceptable even though performance maybe degraded some. I I search enough I maybe able to locate my meter that hasn't been seen in 20 years.

unsrew the factory antenna...should be a set screw, and slide the antenna out of the housing, grab a pair of cutters, and cut it as long or short as you want it, it should not affect anything. that is what i did and have never had a problem!!!!!!!!
This sounds like the best solution to me as an antenna is nothing more than a piece of wire, cutting it should have no adverse affects on it...
