Default 2008 Road Glide Seat Height

I got a chance to pick up a sweet deal on a Road Glide but, I'm reading that the 2008 Seat Height is (IN)26.9. That's an inch and a half more then my frame can stand. yIs there a safe way to lower it? Thanks in advance...

What are you talking about? First of all the 08 Road Glide stock configuration is 26.3. I had one and a pretty decent bike I have no regrets owning. The way you phrased your question is Greek to me but I don't get much sleep????????

Lower shocks, like from Pro Action. There are many threads on this.

I'm reading this off the internet that it's (IN)26.9. 26.3 might be laden height (if you know what I mean). I'm only 5'5".

I'd start with a H-D reach seat.... MOST dealerships have "demo seats so you can try it
generally the "reach" seat will lower you an inch or so, and with push you forward a bit, to where the frame is narrower, and you wouldn't have to spread your legs as far...

Remeber the bike will sag over time and will drop when you sit on it.

Is this the same seat that comes with the Ultra Classic Low and Limited Low series. If yes, I didn't like it.

nothing wrong with the 2008. but remember, it is pre-fltrx which means that it has the 13'' shocks instead of the 12'' shocks on the newer bikes. that's going to account for some of the ground clearance. you can also change out the seat to something a little more sleek and sporty instead of the big pillow stock seat.

there is a pretty substantial change in 2009 with the frame, so i'd make sure that it's a 'can't walk away from' type deal.

also, if you do decide to go for it, i would consider changing out the front fairing mounts with the 2010 up type. that will allow you to use hd vented lowers on it with little or no modification. the road glide specific lowers are different, and don't have vents. and, the 2010 and up headlights will update the look considerable. also, if you have to change headlight bulbs, the older style require that you pull the fairing. not so on the newer.

above all, there is nothing that says that you have to 'flat foot'. if that were the case, i'd be stuck with a honda rebel. as it is, i just make sure to do a good survey of the area when parking. and i'm not too proud to ask the wife for a push now and again ;D

At times like this you should tell anybody over 5' 7" to keep their opinion to themselves
Keep th 13" shocks.Drop the height 1" in 10 minutes for a few dollars on the Tamarak bolt on bracket set.
Next take the reach seat option to drop another 1/2" as well as bringing your legs closer together for another 3/8" height gain!
Nothing can kill your confidence like being forced to tippi toe a 700 lb bike with a Fat chick on back.
