So for a start how about a set of 13" shocks and a lowering kit to get the inch back? I know they send the bottom of the shock farther to the rear but that shouldn't matter.
is it a height issue that you wanna lower your bike back to 12?

Yes. I would like to keep the oem Street Glide height of 12". The 13" shocks are oem on the Ultra's.

I ordered Ohlins yesterday.

Probably going with the PA fork kit when I do the chrome lowers. That way it only comes apart once.

Will 13" inch and/or Ohlins make a difference if my bike doesn't bottom out? I've never had that problem, just a bumpy jolting feel. Also, could the front shocks/struts be part of the problem? The roads in Dallas leave a lot to be desired unless your on the freeways and I try to avoid those.

The 'bumpy jolting feel' you mention can come from two sources: your springs are too stiff, alternatively they are too soft and your shocks are compressing onto the rubber bump stops. Your forks could indeed be part of the problem. What many of us discover, after fitting good quality shocks, is that they provide an improved ride, but highlight how poor the stock forks are.

Longer shocks of the same brand as short shocks may well provide a slight improvement in comfort, but changing to a superior brand like Ohlins will give a significantly greater improvement. That is due to the much better design and quality of the dampers they make. Having fitted Ohlins shocks I now have their fork cartridges.

emulsion to emulsion shocks, Pro Action for the warranty and ease of adjustment as well as the superior ride quality.

separated shocks, Ohlins is the only game in town for separated shocks.

Good luck, and I prefer Schaefer’s oil by the way

can you give this ignorant rider some detail on what is 'emulsion' verses 'separated'. - TIA

Same here... I just saw a video Matt Laidlaw did on youtube and they compared the Revo A and the Fox shocks..... I can get the Fox shocks for $529 from directcycleparts.... I think they may be the way to go.
