Default Mirror options

I recently purchased a low mileage 2010 Ultra Classic that has the mirrors mounted on the fairing. I like these mirrors and have ridden another bike with normally mounted mirrors but neither is quite wide enough to get a good view around my arms/shoulders. If I lean to the side a little they are adequate but I’d prefer to find something that allows a good view from either side while sitting up straight.

If anyone has suggestions I’d appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

Harley has two types of mirrors, the short stem and long stem, my guess without seeing a pictures is that you have the short stem mirrors. If you want to stay Harley, try and find a set of the long mirrors. I had a set of aftermarket ones and recently switched back to oem and am now thinking about the long/tall ones to try for the same reason.

I've found that by adjusting the mirrors in a bit so the inner portion is looking at you, the outer gets a little more reach. Just what I've found.

I run my standard mirrors under the levers on my 10" bars to keep the lines cleaner.

Ultra shouldn't have the "paddle" mirrors on the fairing, OE is stem style mirrors mounted on the bars. Someone probably switched them at some point. Regardless, HD offers the "Split Vision" mirror which has a convex on each end, otherwise the long stems may be the way to go as previously mentioned.

You are right. The previous owner changed from stock mirrors to fairing mounted. From what I see it looks like stock are the short stem. Assuming the long stem moves them out, not just up, that’s probably a good option.

If you decide to go to the stock handlebar mounted mirrors, Harley makes mirror extensions that raise the mirrors up. They are the first thing I install on all my Harleys since the 80's. You can find them in the accessories catalog. They fix your view problem and they are not expensive. I also attach blind spot mirror lens to the top outside portion of the bar mirrors. They stick on and allow you to see objects in you blind spots. Both are effective fixes to being able to see along side you and behind you, making your ride more safe.

I went with HD long stem mirrors on my ‘16 FLHTK. And surpisingly, it’s the stem with mirrors for under $60. I sold my stock for $20.

One of the few HD items under a hunnadollars.

Kuryakyn makes mirror stem extenders that move them up and out. They worked for me.

Yup. cc8251 has the solution. I have a 16 Limited, and all I could see was my shoulders. Those extensions are easy to put on, and the did the trick for me.
