I use the Sena Calvary helmet. It is a half helmet with speakers up in the helmet that are aimed down to the ears. I can hear tunes or gps on my Road King just fine 80+mph with the windshield without out it about 70 is the limit. I used it all last year it worked great. I would definately buy another.

I'm with Cajun, I'd like an earbud that fits good, cancels the wind noise, and allows you to listen to some music with at least mediocre quality. Reasonably priced of course. There are Bose but those babies are $250!! There is a product called Plugfones, has anyone tried those? Or maybe there is something in the middle that will work. I ride a Road King with no windshield and a half helmet. I have tried apple earbuds but those are horrible. All I hear is wind noise. I usually just stuff ear plugs in my ears when I go on long trips. Any tips??

I wanna bring up the Skullcandy Bluetooth Methods again. I used these on my older bike that didn't have a windshield or fairing and it blocked out a ton of wind. Sound is clean and has a little extra bass. They are now on sale for $40!!!! And they are said to be waterproof (I know they are sweat proof since i use them in the gym).

The loop device that goes around the back of your neck tends to catch wind and rub. The device I use wears like a necklace under your jacket, unnoticeable.

I use the earbuds on longer rides, never around town. I have Surefire ear plugs for when I want some subdued road noise, they are comfortable. If ear plugs and earbuds hurt you need to find some that fit right.

These have worked out very well for me. They also work as earplugs as they come with memory foam noise isolation tips. At $50 they are a bargain.

They won't fall out and are very comfortable, and good sound quality for music.

I have been using them for a year and would definitely buy them again.

The new concept being shown through many websites are the new Slimbuds. They web page seems pretty god and reviews seem to be real positive. Check them out and see if they would help with you choice.

No it doesn't. Most any of the bluetooth headsets will mount in a 3/4 helmet and many of them have a kit with ear pads that attache in a half helmet as well. Sena and Harley sell a 1/2 helmet with bluetooth speakers mounted in the helmet above the ears, I have a couple friends with them and they say they work very well even at speed.

I use plug phones pluged into my Sena, they work well, but my ears start to itch after a few hours of the foam plug in my ear.

With ear buds, note the difference between "Noise Isolation" and "Noise Cancellation". Without them, you are just adding to, or overpowering the noise. Noise isolation means a good fit to reduce wind and other ambient noise. It is physical. The Noise Cancellation uses technology like white noise to dampen the exterior sounds. It is about technology. Together they quieten the external environment so that you don't have to blare hell out of your music to hear it. You adjust it to a comfortable level. Sometimes I ride with them down so low that they just reduce the outside noise. Some of the folks I see out and about riding extremely loud bikes and music turned up loud enough to hear 2 blocks away, I bet their ears ring like hell overnight from it.
Not me.
