I recently purchased a used backrest for my Ultra Classic. Its the kind that has a spring you squeeze together to insert it into the backrest mount. Problem is the spring is missing. I can't find the part number in my parts manual. Can anyone give me that part number? I don't get to a dealer very often and would like to try to find one online.
I just happened to have mine sitting out of the bike as I prepare to remove the gas tank to replace the IAC motor. But anyhoo....... if you don't have easy access to a HD store you may be able to find a compression spring at your local Home Depot or Ace Hardware or whatever.
Here are the physical dimensions of the spring you need:
Wire Dia.: .042"
ID: .390"
Free Length: 2.18"
No of Coils: 13
Ends Closed and Ground.
+ 1 on Home Depot!!!!!!!!!!!
You can find an almost exact duplicate spring there. Take your backrest in with you to use to get the right length and diameter spring.
