It is not what you ride, but just that you ride. Brand busting is good for fun, however should not be taken beyond that.
when it goes past fun, it is usually a reflection of the person not the brand.

Just wait til he gets the bill for every time they have to remove the cowling on that wing.. Just talking with a friend of mine on one and he learned real fast how to maintain his ride. That's just it, those that refuse to learn how to maintain their bike are doomed to be raped by the dealership, and that ain't brand specific...
Exactly Right! I had a Wing before my SG. Their dealerships run on the same principal as the HD ones...................MONEY!!!!
Their service intervals and charges are right in line with the HD ones plus the extra time to take off the plastic stuff. I did all the work on my Wing because I hate paying some one for something I can do. I have always bought a shop manual each time I have gotten a new bike. I do all the work according to the manual just like the bozo`s most shops hire only I care enough to do it right!

On why people have the kind of attitudes they have on different kinds of bikes.........................Its all just hot air and makes me no difference.

Ride what you ride and enjoy it!

Ride Safe,

Mike

I know what you are talking about! It seem like metric riders always bitch about how Harley riders are full of themselves and are a-holes about their bikes, but it seems to me that it's the other way aeound. I have a friend that is such a jerk about our Harleys (he rides a VTX) that I don't even like being around him with bikes involved. As far as I am concerned, if you have 2 wheels and a good attitude, it's all good.

Over the years many a good friendship has been strained by a little competative spirit. Ford vs Chevy, Smith & Wesson vs Colt, Fender vs Gibson, Harley vs Honda, etc etc etc. You get the idea. Anyway I take great comfort in knowing that after I do my research and make my decision, the only one that needs to be happy is me. If I find that I am not, I buy something else. And tell to go to hell.

I have a couple of GW (that's what I call them) that I am friends with and we always joke back and forth. I handed him a burger from MD's and asked him to warm it up in the Mircowave he had on the bike. He handed me a wrench for the next time my bike craps out on the road. It's all in fun....gotta keep it that way cause cagers don't care what bike you ride when they make that immediate left turn trying to get that on the side of the road watermelon special. HAGO! Humans are competitive animals, regardless of what is involved. Everyone wants to feel like they have the best- even within a specific brand. Age, maturity level, gender, profession, etc. have no bearing on someone's desire to own "what's best" and their willingness to defend that choice. A person may not give a damn whether there's a Ford or Chevy in the driveway, but will fight you to the death about what spark plug is best for his lawn mower.
An example:
Harley vs. Honda. OK, Billy Bob gives in and buys a Harley.
Then within the Harley crowd it's new Harley vs. old Harley.
Then it's Electra Glide vs. Dyna Glide vs. Road Glide.
Then it's fixed fairing vs. batwing.
Then it's SERT vs. PCIII vs. Fuel Pak.
Then it's true duals vs. slipons.
Rush vs. VH vs. Samson.
Then synthetic vs. dino.
Amsoil vs. Mobil 1 vs. Syn3.
The it's K&N air filter vs. Arlen Ness.
Metzlers vs. Dunlops.
H-D t-shirt or generic t-shirt.
And on & on & on for every aspect of the motorcycle and the ownership experience...

At any point folks will be ready to whoop each others' asses over their choice in any of the above categories, even though they all drive the same brand of motorcycle.
This same point can be applied to cars, boats, trucks, RV's, airplanes, guns, blenders, electric shavers, frozen vegetables, books, TV antennas, tampons, dog food, antacids, comic books, raisins, beer, and anything else human beings assign a value to. Always been that way, always will be.

Capt775- I'd say you haven't lost much in the way of a friend with that guy...

Its been my experience the folks that bash other brands the loudest are usually either high order dickweeds or newbies on their first Harley.
