I know if doesn't answer the OP's question regarding the HD opener.
I used velcro/tape to attach a garage opener to the back of my fairing. It held this way for many miles/years on my previous bike... and surprisingly was tucked away from the rain and not damaged when caught in rainstorms. I do pull it off to wash the bike or if I have to park outside in the rain... it's also not hidden this way.
I've considered soldering a switch to the opener and mounting it inside the fairing with a push-button on the dash/fairing, but I've had good success with my simple "low-fuss" solution.
I have a Chamberlain door opener that I installed before 2000. I had a 2005 ultra that I put in a remote kit that worked off the high beam. In 2015, I bought the liftmaster garage door opener that works with my phone (MyQ something)
I worked like a charm. I bought a new ultra in 2016 and installed the a new remote on the bike. In the beginning of 2018, it stopped working from the bike. It worked fine from my phone and door button. I found the instructions for the bike remote and re programed it. (I thing there was a reset button on the receiver.) It started working again. I haven't had a problem again, yet. FYI, the newer Chamberlain door openers have the MyQ built in and comes with the fancy door button. No need to have a thing plugged into the router.
I have the receiver mounted at the highest part of the garage. When I was programing it, I kept it next to the bike , then moved it
I did the same.....remote in Heritage windshield bag....but then went and got a key chain remote from Home Depot thats about the size of a silver dollar (if the silver dollar were square). I put in on a carabiner with my MC keys and wear on a belt loop. Opener is always handy. Its all personal preference.....just an option I do.
been doing that for years. it works, it's cheap, and there's no need to complicate things.

Same here. All my openers are Chamberlain/Liftmaster Q series, this little remote works great. Backward compatible, makes no difference. My bike fob is with the remote clipped on my belt loop, I programmed the big button for the bike door, gloves are no issue.
This link shows it, it's smaller than it looks here. Oh, and look around, you can beat that price. Common lithium dime battery lasts years.
Had the same issue when I installed a new Chamberlain opener a couple of months ago, purchased the interface below. Works great with the bike's headlight switch.

Gotta do a little more research on this part and my opener, but I think this is what I was looking for last year when I installed the new opener. Thanks Joe!!
I got another "Q" transmitter and took it apart. I soldered wires to either side of the switch that activates the opener and then connected the other end of the wire to the HD receiver. When I "flash" my lights, the door opens/closes perfectly
Help !!! I have a new liftmaster garage door opener. I have a 2016 ultra cvo. I cant get it to operate. I can hear the Harley control clicking ( the unit that plugs up to outlet by opener.
