Possible Motor Problems Coming
I'm new to this forum as of today (Feb 14, 2019) and I wanted to let folks know about an issue that may be coming. I just had to replace my compensator and oil pump on my 2014 Ultra Limited (FLHTK). It has just under 30K miles on it and it is kept up very well.
The symptoms are:
1) LOUD "rattle" from the primary, from idle to rolling on throttle.
2) LOUD "rattle" on right side at 30mph+
When I took my bike in to the shop in here in Jacksonville there was a bike on the rack already there with that problem. When I went to pick my bike up there was a bike that just showed up with the same exact issue. The replacement of the compensator did resolve the rattle in the primary. The replacement of the oil pump did NOT resolve my rattle on the right side. I'm told the shaft is no longer aligned correctly and that is what is causing the rattle. I don't believe in coincidences, so I called Harley today and basically got the blow off.
Wondering if anyone else has had this issue ... yet?

Find an indy and ask him to check the crank run out. I took my bike in for a compensator change and the dealer told me my bike needed a rebuild because of the crank. They had me come in so they could show me the runout with a dial indicator. It was at .009 at 70,000 miles. I asked them what the spec was and they told me it was .012. When I asked why they wanted to rebuild it when it was still in spec, they just looked at me. I told them to put it back together and then I road it for another 40,000 miles before rebuilding it. And only then because I had the money to do it.
My honest suggestion is to ride it until it breaks or obvious what the noise is. If it bothers you, find an indy. They are almost always seasoned techs that know their stuff backwards and forwards. They own the business and their reputation. Unlike the guys at the dealer that just work there.
Good luck and welcome to the forum.
