I've posted this several times regarding Shinko tires ... A good friend had put on two new Shinko's on his Triumph just before we left for the Up of Michigan ... With his gal on the back this is what happened to the tire after just a couple of hundred miles ... Fortunately they didn't go down but did have to spend a night in "Littleville" waiting for a tire to brought up from downstate. No Shinko's, no thanks
Glad to hear you have decided not to go the Shinko route. About 10 years ago I got a Kawi ZX-11 that the PO had put on Shinkos. They were brand new. Bike handled like crap. Running thru the mountains I swore the bike was going to spit me off. Had the tires checked and they were fine. I finally decided to buy some Dunlop Q2's and it changed the ride completely.
I ran Shinkos on my previous bike. grip was good but the mileage was poor. I couldn't get 5k out of the rear the fronts got about 8k. I wouldn't even consider it on a bagger.
Ill throw in on the Shitko as well. I dont ride like a maniac, and I was only getting about 5k on the rears. Not worth it for the $30 savings on the tire in my size. May be fine on smaller bikes, but on a bagger with my fat *** on it, totally not worth it.
I like the Commander 2 - got a little over 22k miles on my last rear tire and just replaced it with another. I had lots of highway miles the past two years and dont do burnouts.
I got an Avon rear last week from Dennis Kirk for 148 bucks....This model is on close out so u should be able to get a deal....
Unfortunately I used an Amazon gift card to buy the tire so I couldn't get it from DK. The same Avon Cobra at Dennis Kirk was 257 bucks on Amazon. Highway robbery

WOW. Glad your friends are ok. That's a scary deal. From all the info I got I'm glad I didn't do it. I considered the Dunlop American Elite. I know it's a totally different tire but the original Dunlops that come on Harley's just kind of left w bad taste in my mouth when it comes to Dunlop. Also I spent so many years over paying for Dunlop white walls on my Road King I have a hard time even looking their way. Haha.
