I was reading up on Rush exhaust an their website says their performance duals with a balance chamber make 5 hp an 5 tq over their straight duals. one big difference might be where it makes power an how long it carries that power through the band. Not everyone is trying to squeeze every drop of performance out of their bike.

Yes you should retune the motor, the ECM may adjust, however, it might be too much of an adjustment. I have a thread on this very topic, check it out:

Ride safe!

How's it run? Any decel popping or backfiring? As another had mentioned, unless you changed the intake, it's the same amount of air going in. If the bike is running good, then it should be fine as is. A tune might get it a little better but probably not enough to notice. Your call and your money. I personally follow the rule, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Yes, I know I can be (am) a jerk. But before the op spends one more Penny someone should tell him to put the old parts back on if performance is the objective.

I apologize. True duals sound great. If you want power back, get the tune.

BSA discovered that providing a balance pipe improved performance on their parallel twins, back in the 1960s. Prior to that most twins had separate pipes and mufflers, a notable exception being some V-twins which used a 2-into-1! Within a short time most brands of twin-cylinder engined bikes was adding one, as they do to this day. Some aftermarket brands add a hidden balance pipe to their duals, to gain the benefit. It's a long standing practice!

Cobra True Duals and 2010 and up stock mufflers on my 07. Great mellow sound, and happy with the performance. I'm guessing the stock mufflers add a bit of back pressure. Nice sound at idle with the SE204 cams

You definately have to retune. I did the same last summer. Changed to the V&H dresser duals and it’s running way to lean and way to hot.

Your gonna really like that exhaust. I have the same on mine with the 909 Twins mufflers. Get a tuner and hi-flo breather and spend the money on a dyno. Mine is a stock 96 and I am getting 73 hp and 89 tq and getting 42-45mpg.
