My bike just recently started scrolling the message "side stand" on the odometer and the check engine light stays lit. It's been in the garage for the winter on a tender. This is a US bike so there isn't a Side Stand sensor. Bike runs fine but code comes back every time I clear it. All lights on dash flash several times, message reappears and keeps on scrolling. It's quite annoying and I can't find many posts related to a US bike doing this. One post said to check the voltage on the battery - well, I checked that and it's fine...

any ideas before I run it to the Stealer??
Are you clearing the DTC that is causing the check engine light. Or are you just clearing the scrolling message by pressing the function switch (last paragraph below)? The DTC that is causing the check engine light should point you (or the dealer) in the right direction.

I have cleared the code through my Fuelpak FP3 and it returns. The text you copied states that it applies to International models. I did check and there is not a sure stand sensor on my bike.

I'm aware that your domestic model is not equipped with a jiffy stand interlock, but something is telling your ECM/BCM that it does. What code is it throwing?

So, ironically I went out to look again at the code that the FP3 captured. As I was digging around in the exhaust settings I noticed a "Jiffy Stand" setting with an on/off switch. I clicked the switch to OFF, re-flashed my ECM and Voilŕ - no more code - I've started and restarted her a few times - tried to re-read any codes and nothing - so, Thanks for your help - If it weren't for you I probably would have never started digging into the flash settings...
