Default Solo seat mounting questions

I picked up a new to me mustang solo seat recently.

Wondering about the plastic washers on the rear fender bolts that many solo seats attach to. Do you guys replace them with a smaller version that doesn’t show?

What size are these bolts? I was going to pick up chrome acorn nuts today or tomorrow.

what to do with the original rear seat mounting hole. The screw is jacked up too high when it’s screwed all the way in.

Thanks

Any thin 1/4" washer will do. Threads are 1/4-20. If you don't plan on returning to 2 up, remove the seat screw & retention nut & plug the hole with a flush plug.

Almost certain that Mustang includes a mini fender bib (about 6" X 3") in the box with all new solo seats. You can purchase separate seeing as you bought a used seat. I think J&P or Dennis Kirk may have these also. Place the bib over the white washers and studs and then mount the seat on top. Harley sells the correct size plastic plug for the rear fender hole even has a bar & shield logo.

The mini bib that comes with it covers all that up. As far as the back screw, I just pulled mine out and left it but I'm not **** about appearance. You can get all different kinds of customized full bibs that cover the fender back to the crew hole and is secured with that screw.

Go to the mustang site and get their nuts for the seat and the mini bib. There is also spacer washers from Mustang you will need if you don't have them. They line up the studs on the fender with the slots on the seat. You can also look at full bibs there and then google harley fender bib and you will be able to find all kinds of custom ones that look nice.

I have the seat and love it.

My Mustang seat had smaller black plastic washers. The two up mounting hole on the fender I used a decorative license plate Harley logo Bolt screwed into the hole. I still use the hole when I put 2 up seat on. The acorn nuts quarter 20 work just fine but you can go on eBay or Mustang website get seat mounting hardware.

My Mustang solo seat came with 4 plastic washers, two with shoulders and two without, and 3 chrome washers, and two chrome nuts. I put the two black plastic washers with shoulders under the seat tabs and the flat chrome washers under the nuts. I put one of the other washer around the back seat mount with the remaining chrome washer. I also went with the bib...it completes the look and protects the fender.
