I love the Bluetooth on the Zumo. I use it when I am in the car in case work calls while I am driving. That way I can drive without having a cell phone pasted to my face. On the bike its nice because you can see when a call is coming in and who it is with caller ID. If its work... I can pull over somewhere and return the call.... if its not important, I ignore it and continue on.
I added the XM to my Zumo and that + the MP3 player make this a fantastic purchase. It is definitely worth the cash at less than $700.
I never thought I would use the Bluetooth as much as I do both in the car and on the bike. Hooked up to my Ultra and goes through the HK system. I use era plug type speakers along with the boom mike as I have a shorty helmet.
I have a question for you Zumo owners: Does the 450 offer voice direction commands as the 550? Assume you plug into the "AUX" inlet on the radio. Does the voice command over-ride the FM signal?
I have a question for you Zumo owners: Does the 450 offer voice direction commands as the 550? Assume you plug into the "AUX" inlet on the radio. Does the voice command over-ride the FM signal?
Thanks for the help...........
I'll take a stab at the first question (I have a 550)- Ibelieve that the 450 offers voice command as do most GPS's however only the 550offers text to speech. I got this off the Internet before I bought mine so a 450 owner can correct me if I am wrong.
So when youneed to turn rightHwy 11 for example the Garmin will say:
450 - Right turn in 500 feet
550 - Right turn in 500 feet on Hwy 11
For the second question the Garmin uses the Harley radio Aux port so it does not interrupt the FM radio. It does however interrupt its own built in MP3 player.
I bought a 4Gb SD card and have over 1000 MP3's on it. If I need to here the Garmin I switch to the Aux port and listen to MP3's. If I don't need to hear it I listen to the radio or a CD. Works great in my opinion.
