My old tom tom sucks, all it does is want me to use the nearest expressway. My cell phone isnt very reliable either. Is there one out there that lets you fine choose the roads? I hate riding the expressways...I have used the search menu on here and its kinda useless...thanks Rick
Not sure how much you want to spend, I had a Garmin Zumo 550, then went to the 660 and like that you can create the route on a computer then export it to the GPS. Can also set it to avoid certain highways and its fairly easy to use
I use the Zumo 665 by Garmin. I design my routes on the computer using MapQuest and then load them into the Zumo. I do each day separately, so each morning I tell it to navigate that particular day's route. Works great. You can justify some of the expense because it is also an mp3 player and a satellite radio receiver.
So if you wire it into your bike, you can listen to music and the little lady in the GPS will mute the music when she needs to tell you of an upcoming turn.
I have been using the zumo 550 for the last six years. It has been great. I just bought a new zumo 590 lm. It came in the mail today. I sure hope it is as good or better than the zumo for the cash I spent on it.
I use a regular Garmin Nuvi GPS. Right now I have a Nuvi 1490 I think, with lifetime maps. I've been using regular Nuvi's for years through all types of weather and been really happy with them. I import my routes to it with my specific roads selected. You can get a new one for between $100-$200 depending on where you shop. Good luck.
Another pleased Garmin 660 user. I like the calculation modes that can be selected; faster time, curvy roads (my default), off road, and of course shorter distance. Also I usually set it to avoid U-turns, Highways, Tolls and fees, and when on the Harley Unpaved roads.

You have to be careful using the Nuvi's. Some don't allow custom routing. I know, I own one. I use it in my truck now just to find restaurants, places, etc. when out of town in it
As of now Im leaning towards the garmin 660. It looks like it has all the features Im looking for. Rocky mountain atv is showing them for 549.00 with free shipping.
