Default Cable length question

I'm changing the handlebars on my 2006 RK , I'm going with 12" bars ( I haven't decided what brand) . My question is how long over stock length should I go ? Will +4 over stock on the cables and brake line be long enough ? Thanks in advance

Cool

You may get lucky and the brand you chose will recommend the correct length, otherwise to get the best results I suggest you install your bars and then measure. If you buy in advance and get the wrong size you are no better off than waiting!

Most bars that are 10"-12", the stock clutch/brake cables should be fine, the wires on the other hand, I prefer extending, but you should be able to get by with the stock length.

Ride safe!

If I had to guess, +4 should be fine for a RK. If it were a 'Glide I'd recommend +6.

There are a few vids on YT that cover the entire spectrum of changing out the cables and wires for new handlebars. I even think that a couple of them even include a chart or two for those of you that just like to look at the pictures!
