Default Touring helmet camera

Hi all,
just bought a drift ghost X helmet cam for 2 reasons.
1. To use on loop when commuting to work to capture the idiots.
2. To take on a trip to europe next month.

my question is would you go for large memry cards (128gb) or have more smaller ones ?
not used a helmet camera before so need some advice.

thanks all.

It it takes a microSD card, I wouldn't want to be swapping cards very often because those things are small and easy to lose.

I do not know that specific camera but I would check how big of a card it supports.

FWIW the folks on the GoPro forums stay clear of the 64gb SanDisk cards...……….

Hmmm...I'm running a 64GB Extreme with no problems in a Hero 6 Black. What are the issues?

I would use as big a card as is compatible and if the camera has a loop function I would enable that as well. This way you will always be getting video, assuming the camera has power. I run a 64 GB micro SD card (also a SanDisk Extreme with no problems) in my GoPro which is connected to a constant power source so I am always recording.

I have NEVER had a problem with them.
I use their class 10 cards for video, and I recommend the OP use the largest GB card that the device will handle. Sandisk and PNY cards in class 10 or better have never failed me. Compare prices on Amazon, there are deals to find.
If your device calls for micro sd, so be it. If it calls for full size sd cards and you choose to use a micro sd card in a full size adapter, you *might* have issues with a connection issue between the micro card and the adapter and the device. One less connection to be concerned about when not using an adapter.
Finally, I suggest when you insert an sd card, turn things on for a few seconds to make sure all is OK. You can always erase this test. That's a better way than not getting the video you want later on!

In my day cam I have a 32gig. In case of an accident you can get the last video off. I have enough to drive 3 hours before it starts looping by deleting the oldest file.

In a dash cam this to me makes more sense. Why have a large one for daily? In my GoPro I use a 64 gig and that is enough to outlast the battery at 4k

If your camera records 4k you will need a very large micro sd card. If its 1080p or 720p use a min. of 32 gig. For your daily commutes I would say a 32 gig card on loop would work good, most trips will be eventless. For your trip to Europe a larger card maybe in order. Stay away from the china junk, use only brand name cards as they will be closer to the posted gb on the label. 32 gb card will be like 29.8 . the china junk will be way off like 10 plus gig and will die on you when you least expect it..I use Samsung cards from amazon, the green ones for all my riding. The green label ones are the exact same cards as the red ones but are made exclusively for amazon and are several bucks cheaper then the red label ones. Keep in mind that if your cam is running on battery a 32 gig card will out last your battery at 1080p or 720p. Like said above make sure your cam is compatible with a 128 or higher gig card.
