I know it has been posted but I had to read pages of threads to find the answer. So I am posting this for others who may be having the same issue. I have a 2019 SGS I was told by the dealer it can’t be done without the whim. After reading pages here I went back to the dealer and told him to hook up the digital tech software and check the box for whim. He said it won’t let him unless a whim is installed. Apparently that was how it was for the old boom box. It would see that no whim was installed and the option box would be grayed out. He said he charges $50.00 for the flash. I told him to try anyway and if it works I get it for free if it doesn’t I’ll pay. He did and it was there. He checked the box did the flash and Car Play works! So I got the flash for free and anyone else that goes there asking how to get their apple car play to work now will be able to get it done. Hopefully the helps someone else here not to have to read through pages of threads to get it working. That was frustrating for me with all kinds of mods and 7pin hacks posted. This is the simple easy way. It will read you your text messages but you can not reply to them or take calls but it will ring with the call. So I think it’s worth it just to be able to use Waze. Google maps. Apple maps. Spotify. Music. Etc.
