Had Ohlins 777’s on order. Found out after a week or two that they are backordered everywhere. bah humbug

So I just ordered a set of the 13” Bitubo from DK Customs. They are still listed on their site, and shipping was free when ordering on-line.

These Bitubos are more adjustable than I thought. DK Customs preset the pre-load to my specs before they shipped them. They asked if I wanted a firmer ride or more plush.
I said “59 Cadillac”.

just kidding

Anyway, see that "toggle" on the bottom? It has five or six settings from hard to soft. It’s currrently set in the middle. I don’t know if that adjusts rebound or what. The literature and the website don’t really ’splain that. We’ll see what it’s like if I ever get the rest of my exhaust in.

It the damper adjustment to make the ride softer or firmer. The 1 is softest and the 5 if hardest.

If you look on the DK website, they have the instructions for the adjustments. If you can't find it, I have it and am happy to share.

Thanks. I was just on their website, and I also read the paper instructions last night that they shipped with the shocks. There was discussion in the paper instructions about adjusting pre-load as necessary, but I didn’t see anything particular to adjusting rebound damping. It seems fairly straightforward based on the markings on the shocks, but I’d be interested to know what Bitubo or DK Customs says. I didn’t see anything particular to that, but...old eyeballs...

As an aside, I used blue loctite to install them. DK says to use red, but the HD service manual says use blue, and I didn’t find them to be torqued that tight when I took off the OE shocks. I’m pretty sure there was no thread locker on those threads on this 2020 either. The instructions include directions regarding trikes too, and perhaps that’s why they were recommending using red loctite.

The link for their instructions is below. It sounds like you have the same document as I have in that they do instruct you to use red locktite, I used blue too.

On the second page they provide information for getting the best ride quality, as shown below.

"Getting the Best Quality Ride:

Your Twin Adjustable Shocks have been tuned to the specifications you provided with your order so that in all of your riding circumstances they will perform much better than your stock shocks.

In addition, you can further customize your ride, softer or firmer, by simply moving the lever operated damping adjustment anywhere from 1(softest) to 5 (hardest).

You may have a change in your circumstances, or simply wish to fine tune the shocks to your unique riding style/conditions. If you choose to do this see the instructions below.

Fine Tuning Your Shocks: (We have already tuned them based on our experience of what most Harley riders want, which is a plush soft, but stable, ride when fully loaded)

1. Always put your lever operated rebound damping on 3 when making your fine tune adjustment. This allows you to make small changes in either direction.

2. There is an adjustable collar at the top of the shock which determines the preload on the spring. To increase preload turn the collar, with your hand, or the included spanner wrench, clockwise, and counterclockwise to decrease the preload.

3. If you feel that your unique riding conditions are causing the shocks to bottom out regularly, then this is the circumstance where you would want to increase the spring preload. Conversely, if you feel the shock is not bottoming out and want a plusher ride this is when you would want to decrease the preload, but not so much that you begin feeling the shock bottom out under normal riding conditions.

4. Typically fine tuning your shocks in this manner will take multiple adjustments and test rides to achieve your “Sweet Spot”. We have found that one complete turn and then a test ride is the best increment in change to find your “Sweet Spot”. (Less than one complete turn will not make enough of a change to notice from one test ride to the next, but more than one complete turn may result in you bypassing your “Sweet Spot”.)

Had them on my old 2011 Street Glide and liked them. Have Legends Revo A on my 2018 Street glide and like them. I haven't noticed a huge difference between the two, other than price.

I test drove my Bitubos today, along with new heated grips and deerskin gauntlet gloves.
40 miles in 41 degrees and heavy fog. The one set of railroad tracks that I usually launch over at 50mph were MUCH smoother. As for the new gloves, it’s a good thing the heated grips worked!!

I just looked up the Bitubos on their site. If you click on shocks they don’t show up. If you put Bitubos in the search box, they do.
