In most cases this is nothing but being a ride with alot of DRUNKS!!!! one stupid idea is to make stops at bars and watch everyone down a couple of beers and head to the next stop to do the same, and so on and so on.................
so now you have half the group on 2 wheels~ intoxicated.
nightglide, you are probably right on a normal poker run. I have found out that this is not the normal poker run stopping at a bar/pub downing a couple of beers and rolling. We have the poker cards at the top of 5 passes which are considered the stops. Now not to say there won't be some drinking but not me and if I don't feel comfortable I will ride with out them away from the pack. So add in some hair pin switch backs and probably a little rain and then some drinks...that could add up to something not good. I hope it don't turn out that way. I have heard very good things about this poker run and will give it a shot. Thanks for the concern and information. HAGO! Remi
One of the main reasons for the run is to ride with new friends. Enjoy the ride. Meet people. Don't over drive yourself while near other scooters and take your time in the twisties. You'll have time to catch up to faster riders further down or up the hill.
Pack rain gear. Pack fluids to drink.Think of a means to carry the directions to the next stop so you can read them easily. Use sun screen. Use chap stick. Shine the scooter up before ya go because it's show the scooter off time.
Thanks for the advise. After looking at the upcoming weather this weekend, rain gear is going to be a must. We have all the rest in the tour pack. Any ideas on the way to fasten the direction for quick reference? I was thinking about a clear document protector or something like that, but then where am I going to put it to see it. I don't know but I will come up with something. Thanks again and have a great day. Remi
Thanks to all that have provided insight on how a newbie can enjoy his first poker run. I will post pics and the ride story next week sometime. Again, I appreciate it and eveyone be safe this weekend I know I will be. Later Gator, Remi
