True 5 micron? Depends on what your meaning of true is. If you dig far enough, that 5 micron advertising claim means 5 micron nominal, not absolute. Meaning it will pass a lot of larger than 5 micron particles. If it was absolute it would plug up fast and bypass. In any case, JMO but I wouldn't be afraid to use any reputable filter designed for the application.
I've been using WIX for years myself.
Exactly. Many years ago I did the research and not going to do it again. The HD filter IIRC is made by wix or fram (then). The 5 micron filter was like 5% of the time (nominal). Anyway, others that also claim 5 mic nominal allow larger size. In the end I went with a stainless 25 micron 100% of the time reusable filter which in studies filters better overall than all the 5 mic ones. Let the bashing begin, not going to defend.
T........... In any case, JMO but I wouldn't be afraid to use any reputable filter designed for the application.
Because they all do what they are designed to do. I've yet to read about someone who's "had issues" because their filter media was wonky.
IMHO they are more the same than they are different.
The only problems I read about here are leaks around the base of the filter and the inability to remove a stuck one.
And the never ending debate on which filter is "the best"- whatever that means.
An Advance Auto I shop at has several filters with the outer cans cut off. Interesting. Fram media looks like some type of cardboard.
Most look fairly decent, I quit using frams on anything. In fact, I cross referenced it to an AC Oil Filter for the same price online and much mo betta!
Thanks everyone for all of the input, didn’t intend to start another oil/filter debate, just trying these out and seeing if input was positive.

You didn't start a new debate, this is just a continuation of the same debate that has been going on ever since they invented the oil filter. It'll continue on long after this thread dies.
