Put mini apes on my 05 road King. Noticed when I turned throttle it stuck and wouldn't snap back. Rode it for a day like that then today went out and had the snap back. Wondering what was going on I opened the housing and my brass ferrules were gone.i guess they shattered or something? Throttle response is like it was before I put apes on. Is it safe to ride without these ferrules? Sorry for the dumb question.

Reinstall the ferrules. You have two cables one to increase throttle and one to decrease throttle. You don't want to end up in a situation where you can't back off the throttle. Parts are dirt cheap, why would you not replace them? Easy job, back off your cable adjusters to give you some slack to work with. Mark one of the flats on each adjuster with a sharpie and count how many turns you back them off so you know how many turns to tighten them up again when you're done.

Ordered a pack of 10 today for 8 bucks. I just didn't know if I could ride awhile without them. I know it's an easy fix but I work alot and don't have a lot of time lol. Surely it's ok for awhile right? They won't come in till Saturday. Thanks for reply guys!!!
before i got a tbw bike it seemed I always dropped one an it went into hiding so I started keeping a spare around to prevent it. easy grip change an no cables to look at are the 2 thinks I like about tbw. I was looking into an internal throttle cable for my slim before trading it in an they only use one cable.
I've hand made those damned ferrules before, usually late at night before a big ride or trip the next day, old carb throttle shaft and lot of bad language. Like been said if it slips it's gone to where ever all your other socks are hiding.
