All you have to do is look at the frame. They are some much different in appearance a blind man can see it. All 2009 Touring bikes had the new frame.

You should inquire if the compensator has been upgraded. The factory compensators were notoriously inadequate. To upgrade to the current design would run around $600 to $700 if you do it yourself and requires a new rotor along with the new compensator. To have a shop do it would come close to doubling the price. The clue that the job is needed is a "box of rocks" rattle from the primary case and/or a loud bang when the starter button is pressed. The improved compensator was not installed at the factory until the 11 bikes. Even those had problems but the ones available now seem pretty good. I have one on my 08 and am happy so far.

FWIW, if you kept your last bike all these years, you should get a 2014 Rushmore with GPS (I would get a Limited with heated grips)

the 2009 Frame is a huge leap ahead in physical aspects.
however, the 2014 adds a lot of tech that really makes the 2009 frame shine.

if you can swing it, the 2014 will give you many years of joy.
and the truth is, I would rather have a very high mileage (50~60k?) than a low mileage bike without GPS and ABS

yesterday, i tried to navigate using my phone (in the windshield pouch) thru the headphone jack in my 2010 SG Radio.
i stopped for gas, and selected a better route, but halfway across the state, the phone decided to go back to the Interstate.

Been around a long time and that NEVER EVEN ONCE happened to me with a PAPER MAP. Too much blind trust in electrons and HUMAN programmers.
