Default Rear Tire wear

For all you Roadies out there or any bagger for that matter, how many miles is about avarage for a stock dunlop rear tire? I have a 06 R/G with about 8500 miles on it and the rear tire looks like it's seen it's better days. Thanks for any info

Changed mine on my 07 Electra Glide Classic at 10,700, Should really have changed it at around 9,800. Didn't realize it would wear that fast in the last 900 mile trip I took. I rarely have the tour pack on the bike so the weight configuration would be like a Street Glide or Road Glide. Went with a Metzler ME880. Like it so far with around 300 miles on it.

On my EGS I got about 11,000 miles out of my first rear. I run it 5lbs under max air pressure to force it to wear on the sides alittle more.

I have almost 15K on my 05 Ultra. Will need to replace it soon. Isn't down to the wear indicators as of yet but I think I will feel better to change it around 16K. Have always kept it at 41# and it seems to be wearing evenly.

I guess the aveage life of a rear tire is between 8000 to 10000 miles between myself and the guys I ride with.

My old RK went through seven or eight rear tires and I started out getting 14k for each, then it started slipping to 12k. These were MT90's, but the MU85's on this new SG are not doing as well, and I'm not a happy camper. At 8500 miles they've got 2/32" remaining, starting out with 11/32" new. The MT90's started out with 9/32", so although I should expect better life out of these newer tires, I'm getting less.

After using the new 402 I have here already, I'll be changing to Elite 3's. I hear they perform very well and are much more durable.

I only got about 3k out of mine. About the 5th or 6th time I felt it slide sideways in a hairpin turn, I replace it with a ME880. Couldn't give me one of those now....[:'(]
