Default Weird Security Conflict?

I went into the city to meet a guy to buy some exhaust headers. We met in a parking lot. He parked a dodge pickup near me bike. When he tried open his truck with the key fob it was dead, nothing. When I tried to start the bike it was dead nothing, I couldn't even input the digital code. I got a new battery in my fob and again nothing when trying to start. So i commenced to push the bike and tried it again about 100 ft. away and it started without issue. The guy was also able to start his truck without issue.

I had a similar issue in the past at a gas station, fueled up and nothing when trying to start. A few minutes later started without issue.

Could the Harley security RF signal and other vehicles security RF signals with key fobs conflict?

I would suppose if any of you run into this it might resolve if you push the bike a distance away?

They had a similar issue up here at a HOG Rally in Owen Sound area, turned out to be a cell tower issue. But it was intermittent with only some bikes. Weird stuff in the air waves.

Happened to me at a ferry crossing. I was just in time to make the ferry but my bike wouldn't start. By the time i thought of pushing it away from the payment hut the ferry left and my bike started. I have heard of this several times before.

Yes, and I believe it even mentions it in the owners manual.

GalvTexGuy that is correct and this is what the manual says:
  • Do not ride with the fob stored in a metal case or with the fob closer than 3.0 in 76 mm to a cell phone, PDA, display or other electronic device. Any electromagnetic interference may prevent the fob from disarming the system.

Had this happen to me last summer. Was on a trip and stopped for gas, when I went to start the bike, nothing. Of course I was the last bike to leave the parking lot and started panicking a bit. Turns out the MP3 player was next to the fob in my windshield pouch. Moved it to the next pouch, started right up.

Just recently, I parked my bike in a hospital parking structure. Went to start the bike with the fob in my pocket, and got the enter PIN message. Entered the PIN, and rode off. Made a few stops on the way home without an issue at startup. Never had a problem with the truck fob in the same structure.

It happens, but more likely that SOMETHING was interfering with the fobs rather than the fobs interfering with each other. Still possible, but not likely.
The part about your bike not accepting the code is interesting, however.
