On one hand, just read these forums and see what people ask, some of the advice they are given, and many of the things people do to their bikes..... it becomes apparent there are a bunch of poorly, or improperly, maintained bikes out there. Many things people do won't have any consequences until it gets older/higher mileage.. Then look at all the posts where someone has a problem and rather than fix it, just trades it in.... Add to that, a real good detail of a bike can make as lemon look like a diamond..

On the other hand, if the bike is in fact properly maintained, 61K shouldn't be anything to balk at..

The key is in your observation and inspection skills. Can you spot the good ones from the bad ones... not always an easy thing to do.... A used bike with good maintenance records is a help. You can also frequently tell by asking questions of a prior owner how much they know and how well they've maintained the bike... I believe good maintenance is more important than how the bike was ridden (within reason of course).

Trust your instincts, do a thorough inspection, a good test drive, and don't disregard that strange "noise" that gives you pause.....

I've bought 2 used bikes. One had an issue I missed, but it was able to be fixed within my skill set. The other had a couple issues the dealer tried to deflect/deny/ "they all do that", but I stood my ground, got a good deal, and was able to fix those too.. Time will tell if I made good choices in the long run...

Good luck with your purchase.....
Hattitude has it right, any used bike is a crap shoot, and he gave you some good suggestions.
As stated if properly maintained, 60K isn't much to be concerned about.

I can see it both ways as far as yes its quite a bit of miles. but on the other hand that many miles whoever used it didn't spend a lot of time sitting. so that's also a plus of some sorts.

I checked NADA and KBB for values and they are asking right at what it is listed at. I can get it a little cheaper than what they have it at. maybe $10k. paid $7400 for the softail I have now and thought I got a deal on it when I bought it and the dealer is a really good dealer in my opinion and that's coming from a guy that worked at a Car dealer for 11 years so I know a lot of the sales BS strategies stuff also
Having bought a bike this year but not knowing your market I personally think $10K for a 2010 with 60K miles is too much. For not much more I think you can find a 2014 and up with lower miles, buying newer will also save you money in long run as you do any upgrades.

For a 2014 model street glide most I have seen are in the mid teens as far as price goes around here.

I have found some but thing I have against them is most of them I find are Black...and personally I just don't like Black.

for example..a dealer down the road about 2 hours has a 2015 Street glide. 15k on the clock and they are asking $17,5k for it
same dealer..yellow chrome 2013 Street glide 23k on the clock they are asking $14,5k for

Check for private sales. Its easier than you think to finance a private sale through your local bank or even better a credit union.

Sure, but I think your better deals on going to be on the private side. The dealers aren't going to offer full guarantees, maybe a third party warranty but you can go out and get that yourself if so inclined.

Like was said earlier. There are a lot of low mileage examples that could be had. My thinking is the higher the mileage the more EVERYTHING is worn. Switches, seats, shocks etc. I ride a lot of miles a year generally so I want a machine that I can wear out.
These bikes will run for many many trouble free miles if maintained right.

I'd offer similar advice to that above. Its well stated. The mileage isn't the issue, it's maintenance, condition and price. If I could verify the maintenance and was satisfied with the condition then sure I'd be interested....but not at 10K. There will be a limited pool of buyers for a 9 year old higher mileage bike, so I'd use that to my advantage.

There are so many examples of high mileage harleys and most can be rebuilt essentially forever if you choose. So in my mind 61K is just a number to help you keep track of what should have and what will need to be done. Money pit vs great deal all comes down to what's been done, and if I had a good idea of that I wouldn't be worried. Good luck with your decision.

Would it concern me ? Yes

Would I buy the bike anyway if I liked it ? Yes

If you feel that confident in the dealership you are working with and you feel the price is fair then go for it , The best Harley I ever owned I never test rode, and it had 50k on the clock . but the bike was priced at the low end of the NADA value and like you I had a dealership that done me right every time before.

Some days you just gotta roll the dice a little , have a little faith...

How many miles on the tires, were the wheel bearings replaced, breaks, shocks (front and rear), and swing-arm bushings, motor mounts, belts, and tensioners, Battery. Check the plugs and if possible do a compression test. Remove the seat and look at the wiring, check the fuse block and lock at the ECM for spliced wires. Also when going over the bike look for rounded nuts and striped screw heads.
Look up the HD maintenance schedule for a list of all items that should be checked and replaced at 50K.
If you feel the need add the prices for the maintenance that you should do to the price of the bike and decided if you think its worth it.
Remember its your $$$$$.
