Default Pre-treating painted surfaces

Just curious if anyone pre-treats painted surfaces before adding new parts to their bikes?

I'm looking at adding painted handle bars to my bike and was curious if anyone waxes or seals their before installation, and if you so what do you do?

My bike has denim paint so I don't wax it, however I was thinking it would be wise to take care of the black painted surfaces.

When I painted my bike this winter, I painted each piece individually so I had to wait till all parts were painted until I waxed them. I took off the rear fender facia and waxed them before putting them back together. So I dont' have wax stuck in the cracks. Took off the saddle bags and waxed them on the table, then put them back on. Same with the side covers. just easier.

Are your bars getting painted or powder coated?

If painted, ask the painter how long till the paint gases off. After that you can coat them for the longest protection. If they are matte use a coating designed for matte. If not matte any coating will work

Thank you for your responses. I apologize if I wasn't clear, I'm just thinking ahead and trying to prevent possible damage to my existing paint. I'm going to be adding gloss black Yaffe monkey bars to my bike ad want to protect the paint on the bars from swirl marks as much as possible. I've heard a lot of suggestions surrounding spray protectants, like F11, and want to avoid using them after installation as I don't want to mess up the matte denim paint on my bike. I was just curious what people were doing prior to installing new parts.

Never pre-treated any parts and never had any issue. It sounds like you take pretty good care of your bike for asking a question like this so I don’t think you’ll ever have to worry about anything either.

Enjoy the new bars, don’t obsess over this small of a detail.
