Default Using oil

I have a 2014 Street Glide 17000 miles. Perfect shape. I maintain it myself.. It's starting to use oil. Like a quart every 2000 miles. No drips. (not on my watch) runs perfect. I see a lot of oil in the crankcase vent line to the breather. Normal???

Ewww......that's a bit steep, IMHO. I have a 2014 Limited with more than double your miles and I have yet to top off between oil changes. It must be going somewhere if it's not leaking it's being consumed. Not sure what to think about the vent line.

Some engines do use oil. Mines uses about 1/2 quart in 5k some report that certain oils make a difference. How much oil are you putting in? over filling is a big problem.

Are you sure your using? Stupid question I know. You are suppose to fill to mid-fill on the dip stick. There is actually a very specific proceedure to check level in the owners manual. If I “over-fill” meaning above 1/2 stick I will get excessive blow-by until it goes back down to 1/2 stick. Doesn’t budge from there.

my 09 uses about that amount., it has a 124 in it. took 3 quarts to Sturgis and used them all. had to buy 1 more on the road. I don't baby the bike, and my speed isn't usually below 80.

Check your manual, it should explain not to fill to the full line. 3 qts. is the initial fill on the TC103 engine, run the engine till hot then add a little bit just to go halfway but not full hot. What oil won't go in the intake from the vents in the heads will dump in the air cleaner. May I suggest researching External breather Systems from DK Customs, one of our vendors on this site.

I never fill it more that half way on the stick. I checked the plugs to see if they are oily, and they are fine. (Cinnamon color) I don't run it hard. Seems strange to me.
