EPA Nonsense
i normally like his videos, but i think he did a pretty good job of muddying the waters further with this one. specifically the part where he mentions that the service advisor mentioned that his tab performance pipes voided his powertrain warranty. i'm not sure about his specific bike, but the tab performance webpage states that their exhaust is:
- 50-State legal emissions replacement part on all 2017 - Up Harley-Davidson ® Touring models

While all this is being discussed lets talk about the Extended warranty. Does this differ depending on the company that is covering it? I've read some where that the extended warranty can come from more than one underwriter? I maybe wrongly was under the impression this was a option offered by HD thru HD? But now I am not certain of this.
I ask because I bought an extended warranty for my Used New to Me bike and the parts department said I HAD to use the SESPT or void the warranty. BUT he also claimed I can run V&H Power Duals and Khrome Werks mufflers and that is ok??? Seems like talking out both sides of his mouth. The new bike is a 2015 so it was before all the EPA hoopla. I get I am either stuck with the warranty or I can use a different tuner and void that part of the warranty. But it would still cover non powertrain items correct?
I've modded vehicles before like a lift kit on my Jeep or the exhaust on my diesel truck and knew I would have issues if things happened. Just curious what the real deal is on these extended warranties. The one I have on my current Ram is offered thru Ram itself.

If your factory warranty gets voided...it also voids the extended warranty
Warranty is Harley, not EPA. Nonsense generally is dealers disregarding the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Again, not EPA.
That said, modifications can indeed void parts of your warranty, even with oem parts. Read the terms of your warranty. If you're truly worried about voiding sections of your warranty, leave it stock until the warranty runs out.

RMC56 - first congratulations on the new bike.
If you like the sound of Rinehart you might be in luck. They are getting ready to release their slim duels with a 4” or 4.5” muffler that is EPA compliant.
Also S&S makes their tuned header with 4.5” mufflers and high-flow cats in the mufflers.
Not sure about the Rineharts but the S&S have O2 bungs that allow for wide band O2 sensors so you can run the HD SEPST and their Auto-Tuner. I had the S&S set up on my ‘17 and ‘18, liked the performance and sound. Is it as good as some other set ups?? But it gave me extra power, sound and kept the factory warranty.
i think from what I’m hearing from my dealer it’s more about the tuner than the exhaust. A good dealer might turn their back on the exhaust but can’t fool Harley is an tuner other than HD has been used.
i shared this in another post. A week or so ago a customer with a new trike (150 miles I think) was having transmission problems. The shop tore it down and it was missing parts from the factory letting it slip out of 3rd gear when accelerating hard. Harley denied the claim due to a PV being used to tune the bike. No aftermarket cam or other motor work.
