In a media release for motorcycledaily.com, it mentions that ABS is now a factory installed option on all 08 Touring models, and even comes standard on 105th Anniversary Ultra Classic. Yet, I can see no reference to this on HD's website. Is there anyone who can confirm or deny whether:
A. ABS is available on the Touring models; and
B. Whether it's standard on the 105th Anniversary Ultra
Maybe someone from an HD dealer can verify this.
I have an 05 Ultra, and the brakes are the only things (in my view) which let this bike down. If the 08 models have ABS, I'm gettin' me one!! [sm=happy046.gif]
There are three 08 touring designations: 1) non-Anniversary versions, 2) Anniversary versions{same as 1 with special badging and or paint}; 3) the CVO FLH.1 and 2 have ABS as a factory option, meaning this is not a dealer installed item and the CVO FLH has the ASB as standard equipment. The optional ASB is priced at $795.00
It took Harley long enough. BMW introduced ABS in 1987. If you have never seen a demo for ABS, it's very impressive. Before anyone asks about retrofitting ABS on older bikes, it is a very complicated system and it is not very likely to be done inexpensively.
If I read the technical pdf, on Touring models, correctly bikes with ABS will need Digital Technician II to bleed them. Someone help but this mean I want be able to bleed my own brakes? If true Not liking that.[:@]
abs brakes on a harley is not a new thing. Theres an '05 police bike at a local dealer that has them. dont know why they havent offered them in the past. I dont care for them on myt car it doesnt feel like your stopping faster.you just hope you'll stop before you hit what your trying to aviod.
