If you get the perch mount version of the RAM mount, all you have to do is loosen the knuckle and remove the X piece. The cool thing that the RAM mount can do that no other mount can is become modular. I bought another short knuckle piece and now off of the same perch mount, I can mount my GoPro and my phone. The GoPro sits at the perfect height above my bike so it has a clear view of the road. Customer service at RAM is second to none. if you have any issues, they really take care of you.
I have a box of mounts sitting in my garage that just never quite worked out. My favorite is the “Riders Claw”. This has been on my bike for 2 years and I have zero complaints. It looks good and holds the phone very well. The best part is it’s so quick and easy to slip it in and out.
