Slip-ons for 2007?
I just bought a '07 Road King Custom and would like it to sound like a HD. I have guy that will sell me a $500 set of Screamin Eagles with a $80 set of tips for $250 (used 500 mi). I've been told by the local dealership that they won't be any louder than the stock pipes due to the EPA restrictions for 2007. Is this right or are they trying to get me to purchase true duals thru them?
If the SE slipons are not the touring models( these are basicly same as stock except have interchangable end caps) they will up the sound very much. The guy who told you that info needs to go to work at walmart. Any motor regaurdless of make model year will be louder if you put a free flowing exhaust on it, from your lawnmower to a dumptruck.
The post '06 SE's are barely louder than stock- hardly worth the effort to change them. I have a set in my garage gathering dust that I paid $50 as new take off from my dealer when he got his '07 SE Road King.
The quickest &easiest way to get the Harley sound is to look on ebay & get a new set of Rush slipons fro $200-$250. They'll give you the sound you want & won't cost an arm & a leg...

When I spoke to my dealer about slip-ons they advised that I should't waste my money on the SE's since they made little difference. I decided on V&H Ovals. They sound great and are louder than stock but not too much to be annoying to everyone around.
I just installed a pair of the Supertrapp SE Slip-ons (#128-65115) on my RKC. They are quite a bit deeper in tone than stock mufflers, but not really that much louder...which is exactly what I wanted.

I tried the SE slip ons that were released in 2007. They are basically stock. The sound the same but have removable tips. If you can find a 2006 set they are free flowing. The 2007 (and yes the say screaming eagle on the side) have the same baffle arrangement as the stock pipes and are NOT free flowing. You can probably blame EPA on this.[:'(]
I currently have a set of the 06 SE performance mufflers with billeted tips (now made by Supertrapp)on my 97 Road King; they sound good idiling and riding around town, but on the open road they sound like a set of jack hammers, ( hate the tone ) so I plan on changing the end of the summer. Also heard that the Rush pipes sounded similar to SE, so you may want to take your time and shop around. I did see & hear a set of SE with true duals a few times and they sounded louder and deeper, butI still plan on changing.
I went with the V&H true duals, ovals and fuelpack. There website is very accurate to the sound of each style. I was very happy with this combo. Definately sounds like a Harley but not loud enough to be annoying.
