Hi, I have the new chrome handlebar switch covers for my 07 Ultra Classic. I'm wondering has anyone done the switch. I had the covers off the bars to have a look, the clutch side looked to have the piece that holds the electric in place in a slot in the cover and held in place by 2 small screws. Is there a trick to getting the switches apart, do the button covers come off first?
The buttons and button covers stay together. Just unbolt the switch covers and then unscrew the clips holding the buttons in and carefully take everything out and swap them into the new housings.
I did the chrome button swap on my 06. The internet had me believing this was as difficult as brain surgery. Im not a real patient guy, but I slowed down and took my time. I also stuck the covers in HOT water prior to install. Make SURE you pay attention to the orientation of the switches. (There are little markers to help keep you on track. Definitely worth the effort, they look really nice.
Thanks for the replies, I'll let you know how I do. I found 2 small screws inside holding the clips in place, but everything remained pretty tight inside after I removed them.
I've done the chrome switch housings (not button covers, often mistaken in discussion) twice and don't enjoy the job at all. These pre-rushmore switch packs are full of wires and will test your patience. Don't rush yourself!

Well it's done, brutal job, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. But I learned something, don't get the cheap crap off the internet, the buttons should be tapered so they go on easy, the cheap ones (the ones I got) are not making the job take at least twice as long as it should have. the end result is a definite improvement but would I do it again.....only if I had 5 hours to spare....
