Anyone have this happen? My oil level is fine, and I have an aftermarket air cleaner (not sure what brand, I just bought the bike used). I have just under 5K miles on the bike.
hate to say it's normal, but on modern bikes it usually only happens if it's over filled. On the older bikes it comes from the breather and it weeps into the air filter.
You didn't mention what year, but there are solutions to it.
Aftermarket air cleaners sometimes allow oil mist to get into the intake and instead of getting sucked into the engine like is supposed to happen the oil collects in bottom rim of the air cleaner cover. Just put a mini-pad in the bottom of the air cleaner cover and change it when it becomes saturated with oil.
pretty common issue with Harleys. Had the problem on my '06 WG with a SE AC. I leave the oil level on both of mine bikes down about 1/2 way on the oil dipstick. there are other solutions, but this is the most common fix. check to see if the breather hoses inside the AC are still hooked up. depending on what kind of scoot you have there are other fixes, but these usually work, especially on a new bike.
My oil level is at the half-way point. I'll be taking the bike in for it's 5K mile service soon, but thought this was very weird for a newer bike with EFI.
That's bound to happen if your oil tank is full - most of the guys here on the board agree that the oil tank only needs to be at about the half way mark. Your engine doesn't know the difference since it's a dry sump engine - oil above the half way point in the tank will end up oozing out the air cleaner in many bikes. When you or the dealer changes your oil, only add a little over 3 1/2 qts to the oil tank.
Actually pretty common. But especially visible with full flow and aftermarket aircleaners.
If it appears to be excessive may need new umbrella seals in the rocker boxes.
Otherwise a remote mounted mist filter can be installed.
I use a K&N filter on it as it is washable
Look at most any airfilter housing on a car or truck. You will find a small one in there with a hose going to the pcv valve.
the above romote filter is for same reason, let the blow by mist by pass main filter and go to the smaller.
Besides for you chrome freaks it's a chance to add a chrome bracket, filter bracket and chrome hose
