Engine Light comes on
Coming home from our annual MC trip today, my wife's bike, a 2000 Fat Boy's engine light came on. We'd been riding about 90 miles when it came on and stayed on for a few minutes then went off and stayed off the rest of the trip. Not sure what could cause this, the bike runs and ran perfectly the entire trip. Would very much appreciate some thoughts.
Thank you.

Just went through the exact same thing on my 2000 Heritage. Is the engine light coming on when you start it and staying on for about 5 seconds? If it is, that means its holding a code. There's 2 ways to check codes on the 2000s. Hold in odometer/ tripmeter button while turning key to on. Digital odometer will show different sensors and "ok" after them or "P____" codes which you can look up. The other way is to use a jumper wire on the plug under the seat. You put a wire between the 1 and 2 holes and turn the ignition to on. The engine light will blink like the old cars used to. Note the code and look it up. Mine came up with a code for a MAP sensor. Obviously not right for mine because my bike is carbed, but it turned out to be a moisture issue with the crank position. sensor. The service manual was helpful but not the greatest. It shows how and where to check, but doesn't break down codes for carbs vs injected. My engine light stopped coming on after 50 "starts". Good luck!
