That happens a lot.. I love readin the technical threads like this. I've never had any of the issues but i like learning new tid bits here and there.
same here. I have an '09 Ultra Classic & the PO had tons of receipts for maintenance done at Arrowhead Harley but I did not see anything about the compensator. I haven't had any ill effects other than an occasional clunk at startup when hot. But always starts right up after that. So I assume it's either the starter or compensator starting to show wear. 31,500 miles. Any thoughts??
Don't you love it when people ask for advice and then never return to tell you how it all worked out?
He did say he had emergency surgery. Maybe (and I hope he doesn't) has bigger problems than a bad compensator. That said, OP logged on 4 days ago. Yeah, it happens a lot.

Sorry I was away for awhile. Wife was back in surgery and it got pretty complicated with the in-laws, etc. coming to help.
Anyway, everything is re-assembled and I did manage to take it for a test ride before everything went sideways. There was a little seepage from behind the drive but I think that it was residue or maybe a little that squeaked around the o-ring during re-assembly. There hasn't been anything since and it's staying cleaning/dry. Anyway, just on here for a bit answering some posts. Was also cleaning out the garage and giving away some parts for shipping costs. Kind of a good way to keep busy during everything when there isn't much you can do but think.
Appreciate all the advice from everybody. It's good to have so many knowledgeable people who are willing to share information. When I was first learning automechanics one of the old-timers refused to share any of his secrets so I learned to keep quiet and watch when he didn't think anybody was looking lol Bit different when you are on your own, so I appreciate the info.
