Gear indicator
Got the answer myself. Got one gear indicator from China for less than $23 incl, shipping. Connected the indicator to the diagnostic socket and made a test run with gear change 1-6. The indicator followed every exchange and was working perfect.
I used this on my 13 FLHTC. Setup quite easy and works well. Very bright too. There are handlebar mounts but I mounted mine mid fairing between the big guages. Only issue is that when clutch is in, it doesnt show the gear so if you are at a light and forgot to downshift, it wont help you there.

Built-in Harley shift indicator like on 2014 and up when clutch is pulled in you can't read those either.
I have the HD combo gauge on my 06 and when the clutch is in it does not show gear either.

Like the one in the PowerVision tuner gauge set, the ECU compares the road speed with the RPM and extrapolates the gear you must be in, and reports that via the data bus. It's why these things don't work when the clutch is in and RPM doesn't match a speed / gear combination.
Thats because they compute the gear by dividing RPMs by speed. So, anytime the clutch is pulled in, the computation is non deterministic, as you can rev the RPMs without affecting ground speed.
I bought it from this place: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3297...12124c4dLx9zGz
