Short highway pegs, hammock seat, 13 inch bars and stopping every 80-100 miles for a 5 min stretch. Just got back from a 2200 mile trip in 7 days. No problems finally with butt burn or soreness. A backrest would be nice but I do not like the HD one.
Anyway what hat I am trying to say is that there are many options out there for parts and while they are expensive to experiment with, once you get the right combo it can make long distance MUCH more enjoyable.
Glad you found a combination that works for you. I just got back from a short 4 day 2100 mile trip. I had lots of tailbone pain after about 400 miles the first day. It kept coming back the following days after a couple of hours or so. I've used that seat before with no problems, put it on a different bike but used the same highway pegs and backrest but the bars are different also. so I'm thinking its the shocks / suspension on this bike. They sux. Rides like a lumber wagon but handles ok.
Your correct, high miles a day are obtainable if you get the right setup for you.

I also believe that stopping more often was very helpful, you just have to be careful not to make the stops to long. It is increasingly more difficult when you have several people and youre trying to corral them back on their bikes!
What bars do you have? Ive 2016 SGS with khrome werks 2+2 narrow sweepers and they are not working for me. I still get back and shoulder pain. Not looking for tall bars. Im short and need pullback bars.

Would rotating them back a couple of inches destroy the wrist angle or would they hit the tank?
