You might also consider sending acopy of these notes o the local offices of your Better Business Bureau. I wonder if the service writer would have been chuckling if the floorboard fell off while you were doing 50mph and wrecked the bike. I have no patience for this kind of crap. Does your local news station have an investigative division for consumer complaints?

This is totally messed up...
brkmpr, I agree with the advice givenabove to you, by tizon..................
Isdealership you are talking about formerly Zooks? If it is I am very familiar with them..........
Sorry to hear about the trouble you have had with them[:@]

Hey Rick,

I am beginning to wonder if it is an Iowa thing. Wieblers in Davenport Sucks! I have similar stories along with everyone else that deals with them. All my friends told me to be wary of them but I wouldn't listen. Now I drive right past their shop to get to Clinton HD. They are great! They seem to really care about me and my bike. I have an appointment there next week and I am not dreading it at all. Sorry to hear about your probs, is there anyoneelse you can take it to?

It isn't an Iowa thing, it is an HD thing. I have had a few issues with my local dealer here in Albuquerque. The service department is generally okay, but the parts department sucks @ss. I have complained to managment serveral times, with getting nothing but an apology. And, since I bothered to speak up, the parts guy ignore me, and are obviously not willing to help me anymore. Good thing I have this forum to help me out. All I ask is to do what you say you are going to do. If I am told I will be called when a part arrives, I expect it. And, it has not happened once. Heck, once I even rode by the dealer to check on a part. The guy said it was in and went to look for it. He couldn't find it. Came back and said, guess it isn't here. I found the exact part I ordered on the sales floor. I watched the guy stock it, grabbed it and went to the parts counter. He told me, guess that is your part. If I had not been there, someone could have just bought the part that I had already paid for. AGGH.

Yes, it is the dealership formerly known as Zooks. It really stinks, I live in Altoona so it WOULD have been so handy to have them perform all of my service work. I'll probably take my bike to Radical Cycle for the regular maint. stuff from here on out. Any suggestions on a decent dealer for warranty work?

Rick your ordeal is not uncomon sorry to say. Of course it is happening to you and it is frustrating and agrgavating.

You can trysending a letter explaining everything to Harley's customer service and copy the dealer owner. Nothing may happen but you are going to use a lemon law you will need to document everything. Make sure you mention the service writer laughing about the floor board falling off and why it did. Good luck

As unpleasant as that sounds, the thing is, if they've let things get to this point, even if they delivered your bike in tip top shape tomorrow, would you really want to bring it back to them next time? I know I wouldn't.

Unless they've actually done some serious damage, cut your losses and get your bike out of there.

Get a service manual and do the regular service intervals yourself. Would you pay $250-300 for your car's 5k interval service? Odds are you wouldn't, and you shouldn't have to put up with that for your bike's service either. Good thing is that these bikes are still mechanically simple enough that the average guy can do the service himself in his garage.

If you run into any problems doing your own service or need advice, you can always post here and someone will be able to point you in the right direction.

choochoo, I went to the thunder mountain shop to check out their bikes. I was very impressed. With the bikes, that is. The sales staff wasn't the most pleasant. One of my daughter's just touched a bike, and I thought the guy was going to litterally **** himself. I could tell he was going to repremand her, so I walked over and asked if he had a problem. He turned around, looked 'up' in my face and said, "Uh, no. But can you please explain to your daughter that I need to be next to her if she is going to touch a bike?" I had to hold back a smile. Told the guy she would just stay next to me, and walked off.

I'm doing my own servicing so I'll know the bike I'm getting on is done correctly. Unless its something thats really major, you can do most of it yourself. Take your time, follow the manual, keep notes and reciepts for that service and use the wisdom and experience all the members on this forum have to share. The ' Fix my Hog ' dvd was a help also to at least give you a visual of what to do. I have a 2007 but their reference bike is a 2006 so a couple of things were a bit different. I would have no problem paying a shop to do the work but its difficult to find anyone who is going to work on your bike and treat it as if you were sitting there watching the whole time.[&o]
