Default Trade in

I have a 2012 RoadKing FLHR 21500 miles no luck selling it and was offered $7000. for trade in. That seems low, anyone else having trouble selling their bike? Harley resale is getting as bad as Jap bikes. My bike is in good condition and i thought it would be easier to sell

No luck selling how? Cycle Trader, Craig's List, Ebay, local newspaper what have you tried? Most dealers will sell on consignment. They can offer financing and extended warranties. Rumble On would likely give you the $7K cash if you are not looking to trade.

Trade value is only one part of the deal. Trade on new or used?

If sales tax enters the equation the $7000 is equal to that plus the sales tax.

Consider tire wear, other wear items.

You decide what works for you. Me, I decide what I want then go get it.

Stories are all over the map. If you can not live with a low trade, can you just keep it. Two bikes are better than one.

Rumble on was $6800. I understand that we think our **** is worth more than it is but it still pisses me off when a dealer offers me base on mine and top end on theirs and wont budge on price

then go to a different dealer. i've always traded in my bikes, don't have to hassle with tire kickers and you get the sales tax break. plus, i've always managed to negotiate a deal that i'm happy with, both on the trade value, and on the cost of the new bike. not all dealers are the same, if you don't like what one says, there's another just down the road.

Its been like that for a few years now. Most dealers want top dollar for theirs and offer minimum for trades. If the offer is high on trade most of the time they want MSRP plus the fees for the new bike. Deals are still out there check with another dealer or build a relationship with a dealer and you will get better deals in the long run. I have been buying from the same dealer for 12 years Bikes, parts, accessories, and clothing and always get great deals plus 20% off for life on everything but bikes but never pay MSRP and dealer fees.

No different than trading in a car.
I sold my 2011 RK to Rumble On 2 years ago for 10K. Had to get rid of it in a hurry.

Ive got an 01 Sporty Custom in the ultra rare Orange and Bronze paint scheme. Its in showroom condition and has less than 20K miles on it..........Ive had it on Craigslist and FB market all summer and have not had a single hit. Even the local indy's werent interested in taking it in consignment. Ive also been trying to sell a well worked Corvette all summer......nothing seems to be selling in my neck of the woods.
