2011 Road Glide Ultra - just got the bike and I am trying to sort out the audio system. It has J&M fairing and Tourpak speakers with an Aquatic AV AQ-MP-5BT-HS head unit. Front speakers and the handlebar controls work fine with the deck. Inside the Tourpak, there are HD Boom bass ports behind the speakers. I saw an amp under the Tourpak as well, but never looked too close, besides to notice it was HD.
I was told the original owner never hooked up the rear speakers and I am trying to sort out how I can. As the rear speakers are J&M, can I hook them up to the HD amp under the Tourpak, and hook the HD amp up to the pre-outs on the deck? Or, will I need to connect the Tourpak speakers directly to deck?
Haven't worked on Harley's before (as this is my first) and I am trying to sort this out before taking off fairing and potentially tank/Tourpak.
Also wondering what the factory sound system for this bike was? Did it come with the rear mounted amp/bass ports or was that an upgrade at some point?
The factory amp is 2 ohm and not compatible with ANY of your equipment. I have an 11 with amp under the tourpak too. The owner may have left it there in case you want to go back stock someday, who knows.

OK, good to know. So I guess I will just need to splice wires from factory 35-pin harness and run directly off the built in Aquatic amp. Also means I can remove the factory amp and put a quick-release kit on the Tourpak one day.
For what its worth you should have an overlay harness that plugs into the main harness to feed the amp. Remove the overlay and plug the harness in. Remove amp.

OK, seems like it will make the most sense once I remove the fairing and have a look, The Aquatic AV user manual talks about splicing the rear speakers from the 35-pin harness into the Aquatic harness - that's what I was referring to.
